This policy applies to builtthis.ai and communications you initiate with the national *BuiltThis team. Individual event sites, registration tools, hosts, and third-party services may have their own privacy policies. This policy does not cover the projects you create, your device, your AI accounts, or websites we link to.

Information we collect

Information you provide. This website currently has no web form or account system. When you use one of our email links, your email application sends the message directly. We receive the address, message, and any other details you choose to include. If you volunteer, request an event, or discuss a partnership, we may ask for contact information and practical details needed to respond and coordinate.

Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider may receive ordinary technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and request time in server logs. This site does not use advertising cookies, behavioral advertising, or marketing pixels. It currently does not set its own browser cookies.

How we use information

• Respond to event requests, volunteer interest, partnership questions, and other messages.
• Plan community programs, identify local needs, and connect potential hosts, sponsors, and volunteers.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website and our events.

Events and registration

*BuiltThis programs can include build nights, showcases, nonprofit hackathons, workshops, and other community formats. A specific event may collect registration, accessibility, age, project, photo-preference, or participation information. The event page or registration tool should explain what that event collects and who receives it. Please review that event’s privacy notice before registering.

How we share information

We may share information with authorized organizers, local hosts, sponsors, volunteers, venues, and service providers only as reasonably needed to answer your request or operate a program. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect safety, rights, or site security. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Third-party services and links

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser information under its own privacy practices. Links to event subdomains, registration systems, maps, hosts, sponsors, and AI providers lead to services we do not control. Your use of those services is governed by their policies.

Photos and recordings

Photography or recording may occur at *BuiltThis events. Event-specific registration materials should explain available choices. We make reasonable efforts to honor communicated photo preferences, but cannot control every attendee’s camera in a public setting.

Retention, security, and your choices

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for communications, event operations, appropriate business and security records, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. To request access, correction, or deletion of information held by the national team, contact us. Rights may vary by location, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
